Halloween Food for your Hallo-Wedding
Its October, and that means Halloween is just around the corner. Our sister company, Coley Hall at The Liberty, just released a blog about Halloween-Themed Weddings. So, we decided to write about Halloween themed wedding food. Keep reading for recipes so delicious they’re almost deadly.
Our first recipe is a Bloody Red Velvet Wedding Cake. We got this idea from our friends at BBC Good Food. Start off with a typical Red Velvet Cake recipe with cream cheese icing or white fondant. Once you’ve baked the cake, add your Halloween flair by slashing into the cake with a sharp knife, and using Strawberry Jam for blood. This will give your wedding a spooky look that all of your guests will love. Plus, it’ll be delicious.
Another way to incorporate Halloween into your food is using pumpkins. We found this fun recipe for Pumpkin “Pukeamole” at Offbeat Bride. Simply cut open a pumpkin to make it look like it’s sick, then use Guacamole as the pumpkin’s “puke.” This makes for a fun and cute appetizer that your wedding guests will have to comment on.
Another fun idea for Hallo-weddings are spooky cocktails. One of our favorites is the “Vampires Kiss” cocktail from A Couple Cooks. Vodka, Chambord black raspberry liqueur, cranberry juice, lemon juice, and grenadine combine for a red cocktail reminiscent of blood. Use red sugar around the rim and a chunk of dry ice for some spooky fog.
Another cocktail we had to include was the Pumpkin Martini. This delicious drink is made with vodka, heavy cream, maple syrup, pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla extract. If that doesn’t sound good enough, add graham crackers to the rim for an extra bit of sweetness that your wedding guests will be sure to love.
So, if you’re looking to add a Halloween flair to your wedding, or any other event, get creative with your food. Everyday items can combine to create deliciously devious creations that are perfect for spooky season.
